Principal's Newsletter for April 2014
Dear Holy Angels Catholic School Families,
Our Lenten journey is coming to an end in mid-April, and our sacrifices and prayers will have brought us joyfully to the holy day of Easter. I hope that you have a wonderful, prayerful celebration of the Resurrected Christ.
April is a short but busy month at school. Please take note of the events and prepare well for them. If you have any questions, please direct them to your child’s teacher or to Mrs. Martin in our front office. They will be happy to help you when you contact them.
While your child is home on Easter break, please plan to keep the same bedtime, fitness, and nutrition habits. It is extremely difficult for children to be ready for a seven hour academic day after a break from school if they haven’t had the same routine. If you minimize your child’s sugar intake, schedule daily exercise, monitor daily independent reading, and keep the regular bedtime routine, then your child’s return to a full academic day will be easier for you and for your child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us. We will be happy to discuss ideas with you.
You received the Re-registration Packet for SY 2014-15 if you and your child are currently in good standing with Holy Angels Catholic School. It is important for you to complete the Registration Form and return it with the Registration Fee because seats cannot be saved for anyone. Please send it in to Mrs. Martin as soon as possible. We’d hate to lose you!
Happy, holy Easter everyone! God bless you.

Inaugural Year for HSA at Holy Angels
Miss Cosgrove has successfully organized our first HSA at Holy Angels! She has a dedicated group of parent HSA Officers. You are invited to meet your HSA Officers on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00PM in the cafeteria at their first open parent meeting. More information about this HSA meeting will be forthcoming.
Our partners, M&T Bank, will offer finance education sessions to our students in Grades 4-8 on April 30th and May 1st. This is our fourth year partnering with M&T Bank to offer these valuable life skills and lessons to our students for their future fiscal health. Parents are welcome to attend. More details about times will come home to you later in April.
Your child will bring home the Trimester 3 Interim Report to you on Wednesday, April 30th. Please review it with your child, sign it, and return it to your child’s teacher.
Out-of-Uniform Picture Day, Chick-Fil-A Day, & After Easter Dance
Galeone photographers will be here to take individual, out-of-uniform pictures on Friday, April 25th. You will receive the photographer’s order envelope in your child’s purple Wednesday Folder on April 9th. If you want to order pictures, please follow the directions on the order form and send it in with your child on picture day. Pre-pay order forms for Chick-Fil-A Day will be sent home in the very near future. The After Easter Dance will be held in our cafeteria. Tickets for the dance are $5.00. Parents are invited to purchase tickets and attend, too. Look for more details about the After Easter Dance during the week of April 7th.
School will be closed during Holy Week and on Easter Monday this year, during the week of April 14-18 and on April 21st. School will reopen on Tuesday, April 22nd.
After School Clubs Session 3
The After-School Clubs for T3 will begin on April 22 and end on May 23rd. Information about them is being gathered and will be sent home to you in an upcoming Wednesday Folder. Clubs begin at 3:20 and end at 4:20. Prompt pick-up at 4:20 in the front circle is expected.
All of our students will be leaving the building on April 11th for a variety of off-campus learning experiences. Please complete the necessary paperwork that you received and return it to your child’s teacher with the requested fee for the day. Regretfully, some students cannot participate due to their Discipline Record at HACS. Teachers have contacted you by email or phone if this is the case. Please make other arrangements for your child on the day of the class trip, as adult supervision is not available to monitor students at school during this whole-school class trip day.
We sell our Spring Cash Raffle tickets during the month of April. The packet of 60 $1.00 tickets is coming home on April 1st. They are wrapped in a bright yellow memo from the office. Please read the memo for the new and improved raffle details! Every child will sell a minimum of 60 tickets. If you want to compete for the $200 cash prize for our Top Seller, return your stubs and $60 with a note requesting more tickets. The stubs and the ticket money are due no later than Wednesday, April 30th at 4:00. The drawing will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 12:00 noon. Please tell your buyers that the winners will be called. Thank you for your support! Good luck!
National Achievement Tests in the Archdiocese of Baltimore
During the week of March 24th, students in Grades 3-8 in the Archdiocese of Baltimore will take the STANFORD 10 National Achievement and Cognitive Skills Assessments. This test measures your child’s achievement and ability. Please learn all you can about preparing your child to take a National Achievement Test. We need your child to have a healthy breakfast and to be here before 8:20. Late arrivers will not be admitted to class once the test session has begun.
